Our Story

Home From Home Support has been providing care and support since 2000. Our story reflects our ongoing commitment to helping individuals with learning disabilities and mental health needs live independently within their own homes and communities.

Specialist Support You Can Trust

Home From Home began providing housing and tenancy-related support in March 2000. From the very beginning, the organisation was established with a clear aim: to support individuals with learning disabilities and mental health needs to live in ordinary housing within their local community, receiving the right support to live independently and work towards their personal goals and aspirations.

Over the years, Home From Home has continued to succeed in this aim, supporting individuals to maximise their independence and remain in their own homes. The organisation has built an excellent reputation for supporting people who have previously required long-term hospital stays to remain well within their home and community setting, supported by carefully planned and individualised care.

A key strength of Home From Home has been the stability it provides to the People We Support. Many individuals supported by the service have previously experienced extended periods as inpatients within hospital settings. Through tailored support packages and a person-centred partnership approach, individuals are supported to remain settled, well, and supported within their own homes. This stability is attributed to the empathetic, high-quality support provided by a skilled and well-trained staff team.

Home From Home is outcome-focused in its approach and recognises its responsibility to the People We Support and to purchasers of services to deliver support that is both effective and sustainable for the future. Support has always been shaped around individual needs, aspirations, and preferences, with a strong emphasis on promoting choice, independence, and empowerment.

In 2019, Home From Home transitioned from a supported housing provider and no longer operates as a landlord offering tenancies. Today, the organisation continues its work as a domiciliary care agency, delivering therapeutic and progressive support to adults with learning disabilities, mental health needs, psychological needs, and some behaviours that may be considered challenging across South Wales.
